SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER 2017 25 living fit Seafair triathlon Cool conditions and a new bike course that led riders up Lake Washington Boulevard and into Madison Park lent a fresh feel to the annual Seafair Triathlon, which highlighted the summer festival's roster of athletic events. WAC members took on the Olympic- and sprint-distance races as individuals and relay teams. WAC Tri/Cycle Club Coach Julie Vieselmeyer won the women's elite Olympic-distance race. The swim-bike-run races centered on Seward Park, where the WAC operated a hospital- ity tent as the event's official athletic club. Large signs around the bike and run segments of the courses encouraged Tri/Cycle members by name, as did many WAC members and team members who turned out to watch. The Seafair Triathlon is a staple in the Northwest race circuit and offers Seattle's only Olympic-distance event. The group gathered for pictures, race stories, and a trip to the massage chair. For some, this was their only race of the year. For others, it was a local highlight of a long racing season.
