e high-rise Elevator Modernization
Project began in late January, moving
the WAC closer to a major improvement
that will benefit members for decades to
come. e service car is being upgrad-
ed first. roughout the project, one
high-rise li at a time will be taken out
of service. Each car will take about 13
weeks to upgrade.
e project includes replacing the
original 1929 elevator motors and
installing a new elevator control system.
e project will continue for about a
year. During the modernization, three of
the Club's four high-rise lis will always
remain in service.
Members may take the stairs to help

offset the impact of the modernization
project. Posted building directories
and signage make it easy to get where
you're going. e low-rise lis, located
immediately behind the welcome desk,
and the grand staircase may be used to
access the 1st through 3rd floors. e
central internal stairwell, also known
as the green stairwell, will get you any-
where else you need to go.
WAC team members will be taking
the stairs whenever possible to help
offset the project's impact, but cart trans-
portation and other service tasks will
share the main cars for the next couple
of months.
