MARCH / APRIL 2017 23 Exercise of the month Wall Sit with Ball and Leg Extension WAC Personal Trainer Misa Rohan demonstrates a Wall Sit with Ball and Leg Extension. This exercise targets the core, quadriceps, and hip flexors. 1 2 Debbie Officer is the mother of five. "ey keep me moving," she says. So does a busy schedule of fitness classes at the WAC, as well as the obstacle-course races and fun runs she trains for and competes in. Debbie grew up in New Jersey and Ohio, leaving at age 18 for "an adventure to Califor- nia." Her travels led her to Washington state. Seven years aer leaving home, she reunited with her family, who had since moved to Connecticut. "My heart stayed in Seattle," she says, looking back. It was during her time in Connecticut that she found her fitness life. She later moved back to Seattle, enrolled in Seattle Bible College, got married, and began having children. Her kids now range in age from 9 to 19. "I love what I do," she says. "WAC members are the best people I have had the privilege of working with. ey are kind and supportive and genuinely caring." 1 2 living fit exercise of the month / instructor insights Instructor insights Debbie Officer Cycling, boot camp, strength conditioning, aqua boot camp 3 Place the ball between your back and the wall with your legs at a 90-degree angle and your feet planted on the ground.
