Amelia started when she was 7, and Sophie started when she was 9. Swim team has been an important part of our lives. It's fostered friendships that have survived and thrived through major life transitions. We see each other every day at practice and share many great moments together. Exciting memories include when two younger members flooded the locker room while showering, and the day the ferry broke down on the way to Bainbridge Island. Swim meets have been an amazing bonding experience for us. We get to hang out at the pool, think about all the homework we should be doing, and cheer each other on while doing a sport we love. Older members of the team encourage younger swimmers, and friendships develop regardless of age. Through the years, we've had three great coaches who have made our swim team experience truly incredible. Jennifer Mesler, our head coach, has been running swim team for longer than we've been part of it. She has been a supportive, encouraging presence and has kept us motivated. Eric Williamson, our newest coach, has contributed new insights and perspectives to our techniques and also added a dry-land program that has helped us grow as athletes. Finally, Todd Kowalski works with members of the swim team during Saturday morning lessons and private lessons throughout the week and has helped us fine-tune our strokes and solidify our skills. Our friends and coaches have made swim team a rewarding and important part of our youth. We are always looking for new members. If you're considering joining, we invite you to drop in for a practice sometime. We meet 4:30–5:30 pm on Monday–Thursday at Helene Madison Pool on the 6th Floor. We hope to see you there!
