SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER 2020 17 taste wine dinner / tasting notes O L I V I A B R E N T TASTING NOTES Dunham Cellars Columbia Valley Syrah, 2015 $65* Founding Winemaker Eric Dunham discovered his passion for wine in an unusual way—as a teenager picking the lock of his parents' wine cellar. Eric's passion for wine continued with frequent trips to Northern California vineyards during his time stationed with the Navy in the Bay Area. He later spent time at Hogue Cellars in Prosser before being hired as assistant winemak- er at L'Ecole No. 41 in Walla Walla. Eric eventually found ware- house space in an old airplane hangar and started Dunham Cellars with his parents. Eric's untimely death at age 44 in 2014 shocked the Northwest winemaking industry. His legacy, however, lives on at Dunham Cellars, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. You can taste that legacy in this vintage, which offers notes of coffee, vanilla and berry. *Enjoy this featured wine at the special price of $33 during September and October in Hagerty's.
