A year in review 34 WAC Magazine | wac.net Wow, where to start. is annual look at the highlights and events of the Club's year is designed to remind us of the joys and memories of being a part of the WAC community, to acknowledge the passing of time and the importance of looking back to realize how many wonderful things happened in the past 12 months. e commitment and passion of the Washington Athletic Club is to provide an abundance of outstanding experiences and services in a high-quality, fun, and healthy environment. at has never been more front and center. It has truly been a year like no other. e WAC year of 2019–2020 can be broken down into three distinct sections: • Seven and a half months of an active, thriving, and energetic WAC, with all departments flourishing and record-setting attendance at events. • e challenges of pivoting the WAC to adapt in mid-March to create value for WAC members outside the Clubhouse as we dealt with the state-mandated COVID-19 health order. • e phased reopening of Clubhouse offerings amid ever- shiing rules and restrictions as well as social apprehensions of "business as unusual" in the pandemic era. ere were moments to celebrate in all three phases, with traditional and newly created events—great ideas well-executed. Friendships and memories were made, professional relationships grew, health and wellness goals were achieved. Challenges were taken on in all phases of our lives and were overcome. e Club reinforced its commitment to respect and diversity and inclusion through our beliefs statement (see timeline). And our true WAC spirit came through as the membership supported the Washington Athletic Club throughout the year, embracing the idea of stewardship and allowing this great institution to be in a position to build a solid future and continue our strong service to the membership and to Seattle. We took care of each other and, no doubt, will continue to do so. Please enjoy this look back at a year to remember.
