Set in Argentina between 1934–1952, the Tony- winning musical follows Eva Duarte on her journey from poor illegitimate child to unknown actress to the most powerful woman in Latin America as wife of military leader-turned- president Juan Perón. She had a meteoric rise to sainthood, despite gaining power through a combination of sex, ambition, timing, and charisma. Despite widespread controversy, her passion changed a nation forever. With a memorable score, including "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," this epic and soaring musical creates an arresting theatrical portrait as complex as the woman herself.
