6 WAC Magazine | wac.net from the Chairwoman and President & CEO A WAC-enriched lifestyle I filled out my Washington Athletic Club membership application 16 years ago. At the time, I was new to Seattle, and my main goal was to have a place to exercise. Little did I know that along with my fitness goals would come lifelong friendships, career growth, and a family. I can attribute many of those milestones to joining the WAC. I start my year as Chairwoman of the Board with great respect and honor for the Club and all of the team members who make this community what it is. With great leadership from President & CEO Chuck Nelson to wonderful service from every team member, the WAC has become a place of community and home for me. I'd also like to thank 2018–2019 WAC Chairman Phil Abbess for his Club leadership this past year and for helping guide the WAC through an ever-changing city. As Seattle transforms around us, the WAC is constantly thinking of ways to evolve and stay relevant in the lives of its mem- bers. When I look around the Clubhouse at the energy and activities going on, I see a club achieving that goal. One constant for me through my years of WAC membership is that I have always included myself in what's happening at the Club. Whether it's trying a new fitness class, signing up for various club events, hosting friends in Torchy's, or reaching out to new members to help them navigate the Club for the first time, I include myself whenever and however I can. at has resulted in a richer and more fulfilling lifestyle I attribute to the WAC and its people and offerings. Sixteen years ago, I was a single woman who enjoyed all the WAC had to offer. Today, I am married with two kids, and I love the Club more than ever. So do my husband, Frank, and our children, Catherine and Everett. My secret is no secret at all. I include myself whenever and wherever I can. I hope you'll do the same. Cheers!
