WAC member and former federal prosecutor David Payne is the writer, host, and co-executive producer (along with his producing partner, Jody Gottlieb) of this 10-part episodic podcast. In their 2018 independent investigation, Payne and Gottlieb take you beyond the headlines, and you'll be shocked at what they uncover. Musical hit comes from not so far away Kenny and Marleen Alhadeff knew the musical Come From Away was going to be special early on. e Alhadeffs, along with partners Randy Adams and Sue Frost, are the lead producers of the show through their company Junkyard Dog Productions. In 2015, Come From Away was produced by Seattle Repertory eatre. Fast-forward a few years—and a few thousand rousing reviews—and the musical has taken on a life of its own. e show has enjoyed tremendous success on Broadway, where it was nominated last year for seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It won for Best Direction of a Musical. Come From Away will launch its North American tour with a nearly month-long run at e 5th Avenue eatre starting October 9. It will be a homecoming of sorts as early development of the musical took place at the theater. "It's a musical about people helping people," Kenny Alhadeff says. "It's an important story that shares the light and decency of the human spirit in a powerful way." e musical is based on the true story of what happened in the tiny town of Gander, Newfoundland, in the immediate aermath of September 11. irty-eight planes were diverted to Gander while the airspace remained closed. e stranded passengers were cared for by the town's residents. e show resonates with the pro- ducers for its timely message. e Alhadeffs are longtime WAC members and will speak about their role in the musical at a WAC reception for the Come From Away cast following the 7 pm perfor- mance on Sunday, October 28.
