28 WAC Magazine | wac.net club life teamworks Team members of the month Manager of the quarter SPRING 2018 MAY 2018 APRIL 2018 RACHEL KWAK Payroll Specialist Rachel Kwak, who left the WAC in July to work on her family's alpaca farm, is remembered as an employee who excelled at meeting every challenge that came her way. Rachel's job as payroll specialist was very diverse and required acute attention to detail, says WAC Controller Sandy Cramer. "She handled all the many challenges very accurately while maintaining her high service level," Sandy says. Rachel enjoyed helping out her fellow WAC employees and making their days a little bit brighter. Her favorite part of her job? "Giving out paychecks on Fridays!" she said with a smile. PATRICK VAN STAVERN Assistant Banquet Manager As the WAC's assistant banquet manager, Patrick Van Stavern goes out of his way to make sure members, guests and team members are taken care of. "Patrick is the go-to person when you have a need," Director Catering Sales Rick Cardona says. Brandon Eckhardt, former Aquatics & Junior Programs Manager, calls Patrick an "all-around superstar" who recently helped him order a microphone, installed it, and even provided training on the audio equipment. Patrick can usually be found running around the WAC's banquet rooms and helping wherever needed. He appreciates the variety of his job and its diverse requirements. "Every day is different with its own unique challenges," he says. ED HEHMAN Parking Facilities Manager Overseeing a facility that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, is no easy feat. For the past 39 years, WAC Parking Facilities Manager Ed Hehman has made it look effortless. Chief Financial Officer Paul Lowber says Ed greets members by name and always makes himself available via text or cell phone, even when he's on vacation. "Ed's mindset is always on what is best for our members," Paul says. Security Manager & Human Resources Generalist Laurie Sorensen appreciates Ed's attention to detail and consistent follow-through. "Ed exemplifies our WAC values," she says.
