Team Members of the Month Zack Burrill's always been handy. He started sweeping the floor at his dad's custom cabinetry shop when he was just 12 years old. Being raised around tools and construction eventually led to employment at the WAC's Engineering Department in 2021. Since then, he's taken charge of maintaining the 6th Floor pool, particularly during last winter's renovations when he rebuilt the pool's UV reactor, chemical pumps, vacuum, and chemical lines. "Zack consistently contributes to the team," Chief Engineer Bryan Cook says. In addition to pool operations, Zack has a hand in fixing most everything around the nearly 100-year-old Clubhouse. "ere's specialized equipment from all different eras so there's always something to be done," he says. From emergency repairs on a burst pipe to conducting fire safety testing for special events, Zack enjoys the variety of work. "I love the community and the welcom- ing culture," he says. "We work together well and I am constantly learning." When he's not at the WAC, Zack enjoys camping with his four-year-old son, Aiden. Favorite destinations for the duo include Eastern Washington and Ocean Shores. June: Zack Burrill Engineer Maria Carillo is at the WAC early— 6 am to be exact. She's here to set up the line in the 2nd Floor kitchen and start making the soups members know and love. Maria started at the WAC in 2017 on the recommendation of a friend and has been at the Club ever since. e care she puts into her food does not go unnoticed. "Maria is warm, consistent, and committed in her cooking," Vice President of Food & Beverage Victoria Fox says. "She's the talent behind our soups. Some members have told me they don't want it unless Maria made it!" Maria also helps with breakfast and lunch five days a week, supporting the kitchen team however she can. "I love everything about my job," Maria says. "Everybody is so friendly." When she's not stirring up soup or dishing out sandwiches, Maria enjoys spending time at home with her three children, 18-year-old Violeta, 15-year- old Leonardo, and 11-year-old JJ. "I really enjoy my life," Maria says. July: Maria Carrillo Lead Cook Evan Cho is all about the member experience. He started at the WAC during the spring of 2026, and he spends his days at the lobby-level Member Services desk. ere, he answers billing questions, welcomes reciprocal guests, fields reservation requests, and more. "Evan is one of those people who makes the WAC a better place simply by showing up," Senior Manager of Membership Experience Samantha Stanton says. "He takes on new challenges with enthusiasm." One of those new challenges includes giving Clubhouse tours to prospective members, making Evan integral to growing the WAC community. "I have gotten to know so many wonderful members that make up the Club," he says. "Meeting people from all walks of life inspires me to be a better person." Evan is also quick to recognize his fellow team members, calling his coworkers "kind, patient, and supportive." Fun fact—Evan first met WAC President & CEO Suzana Sakay at her second job as a University of Washington business school lecturer. In his spare time, Evan enjoys going to concerts, hiking, and watching movies. August: Evan Cho Membership Services Representative 34 WAC Magazine | wac.net club life team member awards
