10 WAC Magazine | wac.net first take new swim coach / basketball tournaments Hoop time It's a big couple of months for WAC basketball teams. e action starts March 9–10 with the Pacific Coast Athletic Clubs tournament being held in the 8th Floor gym and at Seattle University. Five athletic clubs— Multnomah, Olympic, Bellevue, Spo- kane, and the WAC—will compete in seven divisions at the regional tournament. en, April 26–29, seven WAC teams will travel to Las Vegas for the North Amer- ican Association of Club Athletic Directors tournament. Private clubs from around the country will send teams to the national competition. e tournament will take place at UNLV's Student Recreation and Wellness Center. e regional and national tournaments are both open to spectators. A social summer on Lake Union WAC members and their families can once again enjoy waterfront access to Lake Union all summer long! Our part- nership with College Club Seattle allows WAC members to sign up for a special summer membership to the lakefront club. e membership includes use of College Club's facilities from 5 am–9 pm daily as well as access to the club's kay- aks, paddleboards, and rowing shells. Sign up for a three-month WAC membership at College Club Seattle for just $399. When you do, you can also join a beginners' rowing program for just $79 (ages 18 and over only). e rowing program is available for $99 without a summer membership. To be the best you have to learn from the best. at's why we're thrilled to announce that Olympic medalist Emily Silver is the WAC's new coach of the Club's junior and masters swim teams. A graduate of UC Berkeley and native of Bainbridge Island, Emily won a silver medal as part of the U.S. 4-by-100-meter freestyle relay team at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Emily brings her expertise and coaching skills to the 6th Floor pool for the WAC Juniors Swim Team (4:30–5:30 pm) and Masters Swim Team (6:30–7:30 pm) on Mondays through ursdays. New swim coach a silver medalist Supporting the Storm and Reign FC is summer, the WAC is again partnering with Seattle Reign FC and the Seattle Storm. Both teams will offer WAC members discounted tickets. Reign FC plays at Memorial Stadium, and the Storm play at KeyArena. More details will be announced on the WAC Wire blog, wac.net/wac-wire.
