From standing, enter pose by stepping your left leg forward about two feet. Slowly, place your left hand on the floor while extending your right leg behind you. If needed, use a yoga block to reach the floor with your left hand. Rotate your right shoulder up and pause for balance. As you are able, raise your right arm above your left, forming a straight line. Hold the pose for five breaths. Release your left leg to the ground on your final ex- hale. Repeat on the opposite side. NOTE: Beginners should master Downward Dog before attempting this pose. Start with assistance for balance and form. Seattle native and former accountant Alice Harrington found her passion for fitness in the early 1990s. She has taken exercise courses up and down the West Coast and earned instructor certifications in more than 10 different formats. Alice brought her impressive resume to the WAC in early 2016. "e WAC respects each instructor's talents and cares for each member in their entirety—that's part and parcel of a healthy and happy place," Alice says. A single mother to four daughters, Alice coaches girls roller derby and plays hockey. "Fitness has pro- vided me with the energy, health and happiness I need to forge ahead in my chaotic life," she says. "I hope to pass on my love for fitness to those I have the great fortune to work with." Players may join midseason to be used as team substitutes as participation needs require. The season concludes with a banquet in April during the NCAA men's basketball championship game, which is broadcast on big screens during a season-end- ing dinner in the Crystal Ballroom. Beyond league play, traveling teams are chosen to represent the WAC at tournaments around the country. The program is actively recruiting men for its 45-and- older men's traveling teams and its women's team.
