Opening remarks from
the President & CEO
2 WAC Magazine | wac.net
We started discussing the WAC's 95th anniversary quite
a while ago. In fact, we're already talking about how we
might prepare for and celebrate our upcoming centennial.
Although it's hard not to get excited about the big one,
turning 95 years old deserves its own set of festivities. In
1930, who could have guessed how far we'd come as a
club and a city? Since we first opened our doors, Seattle's
population has more than doubled, a waterfront freeway
has come and gone, and industries from aerospace to
technology have become integral to our identity and
economy.
Through it all, the Washington Athletic Club has been
home to the city's leaders and doers, and a place
where improving oneself—physically, socially, and
professionally—remains at the heart of everything we
do. As we celebrate this milestone, we honor the past,
embrace the present, and look forward with excitement
to all that is to come.
