NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2022 9 first take wac foundation Your new favorite place to sip, work, and relax is about to open. Located in the former Club Shop space and including a new connection to the Voogd Library, "1930" will open its doors to mem- bers in November. e space includes comfortable seating, a small meeting room, and a row of recently uncov- ered windows that look down on Sixth Avenue and offer a perfect place to unwind in the morn- ing light. "We couldn't be more excited about how this renovation turned out," WAC Chief Operating Officer Wayne Milner says. Beverage service will include espres- so, beer, and wine. Pastries, snacks, cracker and cheese plates, and other small bites will also be available. e completion of 1930 marks the first major project to be funded in part by the WAC Foundation. Also opening on the lobby level, the new Club Shop, including WAC-logo gear and sundries, is located behind the Member Services desk, around the corner from the Inn at the WAC front desk. Welcome to '1930' years means investing in the bottom line of that future." ere's no better time to make that investment than with a year- end tax-deductible donation to the WAC Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. "You can help improve the Clubhouse for years to come and enjoy your tax benefits right away," Chuck says. e sole purpose of the Foundation is to preserve and enhance the WAC Clubhouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and all funds raised go directly to Club improvement projects. One of the best ways to give is to set up a recurring donation. Members who pledge and complete a donation of $10,000 or more will be honored on the lobby-level donor wall, which will be located very near 1930. "We're thrilled to be opening that space to members so quickly," Chuck says. "But it's also important to point out our other big Foundation project so far—the exterior cleaning and restoration of the Clubhouse masonry." ough less exciting than a beautiful new space on the lobby level, the exterior maintenance is a perfect example of the type of work our nearly 100-year-old building requires. "ere are big, important projects we want to get done, and there are big, important projects we need to get done," Chuck says. "e Foundation is one of the ways members can help make sure their Club remains one of the best private clubs in the country. ere's a responsibility that comes with saying you're a member of the WAC." —Make your tax-deductible donation to the WAC Foundation online at wac.net/foundation. $750,000 $1 MILLION $500,000 $250,000 Help the WAC Foundation reach its first $1 million raised with a year-end charitable donation.
