NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2022 23 living fit cryotherapy / infrared sauna of cryotherapy integrate perfectly into our mission as we promote a compre- hensive wellness lifestyle." WAC member and Eden Found- ing Partner Cal McAllister is another cryotherapy believer. "From ultramara- thoners to people in a weekly yoga class to anyone suffering from inflammation, cryotherapy provides real benefits quick- ly," he says. "It's not just for professional athletes anymore." CRYOTHERAPY AT THE WAC Whole-body cryotherapy sessions usually last two to five minutes. The Eden cryotherapy chamber maintains a tem- perature of minus-160 degrees Fahrenheit. The treatment has been shown to improve muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, and provide migraine relief. Although minus-160 degrees may sound too cold for comfort, many who experience electric cryo- therapy for the first time report a feeling of relaxation. The chamber in the WAC Wellness Center is slated for installation this November. INFRARED SAUNA There's another new service coming to the 4th Floor. A state- of-the-art infrared sauna will soon be unveiled in the Spa at the WAC. Unlike traditional saunas, infrared saunas use light to create heat, producing similar effects to standard saunas but at lower temperatures. Infrared saunas are designed to relieve inflammation, remove toxins, and boost your immune system, among other positive health benefits. Moving between the in- frared sauna and cryotherapy chamber is also an excellent way to achieve the benefits of alternating hot and cold treatments in a compact amount of time. The infrared sauna will also include light therapy and salt therapy, also called halotherapy. Promot- ers of halotherapy point to positive effects on the respiratory system among many other benefits, while light therapy is prov- en to create positive impacts on mental well-being. wac.net/cryo wac.net/infrared-sauna Cryotherapy has been proven to reduce chronic pain and inflammation, improve athletic performance, and accel- erate recovery. Professional trainers have been shiing toward electric booths for their increased privacy and because they allow full-body treatments. U.S. national women's soccer team member Allie Long says whole-body cryotherapy is "another level." Long, a regular cryotherapy user, extols the benefits. "I see benefits from every single treatment," she says. Wayne knew he wanted to bring the experience to WAC members as soon as he completed his first treatment. "Once I saw how quickly and easily cryotherapy complements other fitness and wellness activities, I knew we had to offer it at the WAC," he says. wac.net/cryo
