In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and Washington state orders, the WAC begins to temporarily close many areas in mid-March. APRIL Virtual trivia nights for families and adults-only offer social connection during the pandemic. The member-driven Team Member Relief Fund is established to provide donations to WAC team members in need. MAY Members connect virtually for a Cinco de Mayo celebration over Zoom. Social justice and Black Lives Matter demonstrations command national attention, including in downtown Seattle. The WAC develops its beliefs statement in support of racial and social justice: At the WAC, we believe in our diverse, inclusive community. We believe that love and respect are stronger than hate. We believe that together is stronger than divided. We believe in Seattle. The WAC offers take-home dinner and dessert for Mother's Day. The offering proves popular with members. JUNE The 2020 Sorensen & Scholz awards ceremony, usually held at the WAC, takes place online and honors the nation's two best collegiate rugby players, Payton Telea Ilalio and Alexandria "Spiff" Sedrick. The Clubhouse reopens the Spa, Barbershop, Wellness Center, one-on-one personal training, and Pilates training. The Inn at the WAC reopens overnight stays as well as day use. The WAC pool reopens by reservation. Hagerty's reopens for dine-in and curbside pickup.
