We asked some of the real estate and finance professionals in the WAC Business Directory their thoughts about how the market might play out this spring and summer. I expect the real estate market this spring and early summer to be competitive for buyers throughout the greater Seattle metro area. So far this year, we've seen a return to multiple offers in many price ranges, including up to $2.5 million. Interest rates are still his- torically very low, so it remains a great time to buy a home! — Ryan Maxwell, HomeStreet Bank We are seeing an increase in buyer demand that I see continuing through the spring and summer months. After a few months of low inventory and demand, buyers are coming back out in force with some resur- gence of multiple offers on desirable properties. Continued strong funda- mentals, such as employment and infrastructure, will only add to this demand. — Stephen Saunders, Coldwell Banker Bain If you're a prospective buyer and have been on the sidelines waiting for the craziness to settle, now may be your time to get back in the game. Inventories are higher and interest rates trended down in early 2019, reaching a 10-month low. — George Spano, Guaranteed Rate The San Juan Islands are attracting buyers from all over the world. I anticipate some challenges with low inventory as demand continues to increase. The general statistical trend follows the Seattle market, although it lags behind by one to two years since the islands are mostly a discretionary market.
