Historic trophy
Members of the WAC Bridge Club
gathered on Wednesday, January 24, to
celebrate their Sir Lipton Cup victory.
Established in 1914, the Sir Lipton
Cup was donated by yachtsman and
tea baron omas Lipton. Lipton was
so charmed by a Seattle-area interclub
bridge competition he attended in 1912
at the Seattle Yacht Club that he donated
the sterling cup that remains in play to
this day. Every year, players from the
WAC, College Club Seattle, e Arctic
Club Seattle, e Rainier Club, Seattle
Tennis Club, and University Club com-
pete for the trophy. In other action, the
WAC women's team finished second at
the Women's Interclub Bridge Tourna-
ment. e WAC Bridge Club is always
accepting new players.
