8 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | JUNE / JULY 2014 Memories: 1970 A pulse-racing good time By Sara A. Williams 2011 Treveri Cellars Extra-Brut "Blanc de Blanc" Columbia Valley, Washington Tasting Notes: Subtle lemon on the rim with hints of gold on the legs. Bright acidity and sophistication showcase quiet hints of green apple, yeast undertones, and refreshing grapefruit. Floral notes and tiny bubbles leave you with a lively finish. Made of 100 percent Chardonnay with zero dosage, this sparkling wine is perfectly balanced but not austere. Discovery: Treveri Cellars was founded in late 2010. The father-son team of Juergen and Christian Grieb seeks the finest vineyards for its sparkling wines and has forged lasting partnerships with some of Washington's key growers. The Griebs use only méthode champenoise for their sparkling wines. Though Treveri is a fairly new winery, it has received much acclaim, and its wines have been poured at the White House and at James Beard Foundation events. —Sara A. Williams is a WAC Restaurant Manager and a Level 1 Sommelier. This wine, cellared at the WAC, is available at Torchy's. The 5th Floor upgrades included a welcoming area, steam room and massage tables. A sauna was added to the 6th Floor, and Women's Fitness on the 7th Floor saw new beauty shop booths accented with antique mirror panes. Her presentation at the Club was an intimate discussion about her life. RUNNING CONSTRUCTION The 8th Floor gymnasium and running track were starting to take shape. Members were looking forward to running on the elevated track above the gym— a welcome alternative to jogging outside next to cars and buses. SUMMER WITH THE WAC Members were encouraged to invite friends and family to join the Club by offering them a two-week guest membership. This membership included the opportunity to stay in the renovated Inn rooms, to enjoy the newly expanded athletic facilities, and to take advantage of other Club services. { BUZZ } J U N E / J U LY | 2 0 1 4 L U K E R U TA N THE ANNUAL SEAFAIR TRIATHLON BOASTS SEATTLE'S only Olympic-distance course.
