As a result, Atul has seen long-term benefits far beyond the Pilates studio. "I pay so much more attention to how my body is connected—how I walk, how I sit, how I drive," he says. Establishing movement patterns and habits that improve daily life is integral to developing a training program that pro- vides long-term benefits, WAC Personal Trainer Sebastian Vargas says. Sebastian works with UW Health Systems and Population Health Professor Emeritus Donald Patrick, who started exercising to lose weight. "e best part of my profession is see- ing the excitement in clients when they succeed," Sebastian says. Aer shedding 100 pounds, Donald began focusing on core stability and functional balance. "As an older person, it's my job to be as healthy as I can be," Donald says. "Be- cause of personal training, I know I can get up off the floor, change a lightbulb, carry a heavy pot of spaghetti—it's the most delightful thing." Donald's quick to demonstrate how he's changed his gait because of personal training. He walks proudly through the WAC lobby, describ- ing his increased awareness of how he now holds his shoulders, places his feet, and uses his cane. WAC trainers and Pilates instructors are personally committed to helping you find success during exercise sessions. "Witnessing the aha moments with members is very rewarding," Kelsey says. Jelena returned to regular training sessions just six weeks aer giving birth. Atul uses the Pilates reformer at the WAC every Sunday and supplements that with mat practice. And Donald works out six days a week—twice with a trainer. "Everyone is highly trained," Donald says. "e Club's fitness providers have really reached spectacular heights. It's incredible."
