SPRING / SUMMER 2024 25 club programs events Twisted Tea at White Branches MAY 18 Escape the ordinary when you step into the storybook set- ting of White Branches Tea Room in Mount Vernon. This enchanted afternoon entails a full-tier tea ser- vice. Let your imagination bloom during this afternoon straight from a fairytale. Saturday; 11 am–4 pm; $120 member/$140 guest; cancel by May 9. WAC Book Club MAY 20 Discover author Augusten Burroughs' road to recovery with "Dry," this month's Book Club selection. Best known for his 2002 childhood memoir "Running With Scissors," Burroughs penned "Dry" before his first hit, but published it after his first book's success. Discover this less- er-known but well-reviewed read about the author's battle with alcoholism. Readers are invited to gather and share their thoughts on the tale. Monday; 5–6:30 pm; complimentary. 50s-Plus Social MAY 21 & JUNE 18 Born before 1974? Come meet some of your fellow 50-plus WAC members. The group meets every third Tuesday of the month, and new members are more than welcome. It's a casual chance to expand your social circle, enjoy the Club, and see old friends. Tuesday; 5:30–7 pm; complimentary, no-host. Open Play Chess MAY 28 Sharpen your chess skills with regular practice and help from Australian Girls Chess Champion Hayley LeGault. Play fellow members every fourth Tuesday of the month and you're destined to learn the secret strategies of the board. This fun evening of chess at the Club is welcoming to all levels and ages. Chess sets provided! Tuesday; 5:30–7:30 pm; complimentary. JUNE Parents Night Out JUNE 7 Take a break, mom and dad! Enjoy drinks and a prix fixe dinner in Torchy's as the Club Programs team entertains your kids with games in the 8th Floor Gym. Space is limited so reserve early. Friday. See WAC app for more info. 20s/30s Summer Socials JUNE 11–AUGUST 13 We're taking our 20s/30s mixers out on the town this summer! Tag along with us to the coolest Seattle venues, where we'll soak up those long summer evenings over beverages and with buddies. Summer is seriously the best season in Seattle, so let the fun begin! Tuesdays, June 11, July 9 & August 13; 6–8 pm; complimentary & no-host. Locations to be announced on the WAC app. Seattle Jazz Walking Tour JUNE 20 Journey through Seattle's Chinatown-International District, where the vibrant beats of jazz intersect with the diverse tapestry of cultures. Storyteller and guide Eric Magnuson returns to lead us on a historical walking tour that delves into Seattle's rich jazz history and the community spirit of this dynamic neighborhood. We'll end with a non-hosted drink in a 1920s jazz bar. Limited availability. Thursday; 4–6 pm; $42 member/$50 guest; cancel by June 13. Cocktail Club: Batch Cocktails JUNE 20 What delicious drinks work well in a bigger batch?
