Now, after more than 1,800 columns over the past 36-plus years, he's just released a new commemorative best-of coffee table book, Seattle Now and Then: The Historic Hundred. Dorpat and his co-author Jean Sherrard will provide an illustrative talk based on the book and share some amazing stories about the changes of our Emerald City. Signed books available for purchase. X Wednesday; 6–8 pm; $35; cancel by March 19 APRIL 03 Tulalip Tribe's Hibulb Cultural Center Located on the Tulalip reservation, the beautiful Hibulb Cultural Center invites you to discover the remarkable history and culture of the Tulalip tribe through interactive displays. The expansive center includes permanent and temporary museum exhibits of Tulalip history and artifacts, story poles, a longhouse, nature preserve, and a gift shop. Following our guided tour, enjoy lunch at Marysville's Village Taphouse & Grill, famous for its pies and comfort food. Transportation provided. Join us as mermaids dive into Helene Madison Pool. Get ready for a great hands- on experience with a wide variety of animals from familiar barnyard favorites to fascinating exotics. Spend some time with a wallaby, sheep, Patagonian mara, mini-pig, African pygmy goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas—just to name a few! The Animal Encounters staff will be on hand to educate, share stories, and handle the animals. Reserve today for this fun spin on the Children's Spring Party. We'll charter a bus from the WAC and travel north along Chuckanut Drive to Taylor Shellfish Farms on Samish Bay. The Taylor family still runs the business, established in 1890, and will host a special day of shuckin' and chuckin'. Explore the beach during low tide and learn how to shuck oysters and then slurp them down. Enjoy an April afternoon alongside a cozy bonfire with lots of oysters, a hearty lunch, and plenty of wine and beer. We'll go rain or shine, so be sure to bring warm clothes and boots.
