Th e Clubhouse is decked out in all of its holiday fi nery, Club Programs is running full-throttle, and our food and beverage operation is providing great celebratory meals for enjoyment in the Club or at home. Meanwhile, special gift off erings from the Spa, Club Shop, Sport Shop and elsewhere around the Club make holiday shopping simple. In fact, the WAC in December may be contrary to the notion that the easiest way is not always the best way. Indeed, the WAC can make your holiday season simple and stress-free— and this special edition of WAC Magazine is designed to help. Eat, shop and enjoy everything we have to off er this season. Really, W elcome to the holidays. Although every day—and every time of year—is a great time to be a WAC member, many of us fi nd this season particularly she has greatly missed not having her kitchen available these past few weeks. She has spent countless hours thinking about what she will make as her fi rst meal—and fi rst pastry—in her new kitchen, with her new appliances. In truth, I'm fantasizing about it a bit myself. During the fi rst weekend of November, we were in Chicago attending an art S ometimes holiday messages come to us in strange ways or from sources we don't expect. For the past month, Brenda and I have been going through a kitchen remodel in our home. Brenda truly enjoys cooking and baking, and The substance of the season expo. As we spent an afternoon shopping on Oak Street and Michigan Avenue, we passed a Jewish gift shop that had a cute Hanukkah cookie dish in the window. Brenda always made Hanukkah cookies for our kids, and now she makes them for our grandchildren. As we were discussing the merits this particular dish would have on the presentation of her cookies, our focus turned to something more important—the product rather than the presentation. We agreed that at ages 2 and 4 our grandchildren are really only focused on the cookies and their Hanukkah gifts, not the packaging. I guess this is my convoluted way of saying that substance trumps presentation every time. Th e substance of what we have in life—family, friends, opportunities, freedom—is what we should all be thankful for this time of year. Please accept my wishes for a joyous holiday season. it's that easy. And bring your friends. Th ere's no better time to show off your Club. Not only that, but the holidays overlap with the beginning of our annual Friends & Family membership promotion. It's the best time of year to join the WAC. Happy holidays!
