JULY / AUGUST 2017 7 Summer, glorious summer Summer means Seafair, and in this issue of WAC Magazine we celebrate a great point of pride for the Washington Athletic Club. For almost two decades, the WAC has been the Seattle home of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, hosting the pilots, flight team, and their families for that special week in August. It is an honor to have them here, and the pinnacle of our extensive participa- tion in and support of Seafair. Seattle's iconic summer festival is just one of the Club's many community partnerships that provide opportunities for members to have special experiences. Remember you have access to Seattle Storm and Seattle Reign FC game tickets at partner pricing. e WAC strongly supports the value of sports and these teams' impressive female role models. Access to summer fun on Lake Union is yours through our partnership with College Club Seattle. Enjoy kayak and paddle- board experiences just minutes from the WAC. As always, wac.net has our full roster of fun and detailed information on WAC partnerships and Club events. Your summer fun awaits! Next time you're in the Clubhouse, please take a moment to say thank you to the team members you interact with. ey are just part of the more than 300 WAC staff members committed to making sure you have a great day. On the topic of thanks, let me express my appreciation for the 200 members who served on WAC member leader commit- tees this year. Your contributions are immeasurable, and this culture of collegiality within the Club and between members and management and staff is a big part of why the WAC continues to rank among the best private clubs in America. ank you! @cnhuskies13 Chuck Nelson President & CEO cnelson@wac.net WAC® MAGAZINE JULY / AUGUST 2017 Volume 36, Number 4 ISSN 1091-7985 Washington Athletic Club ® 1325 Sixth Ave. Seattle, WA 98101 206.622.7900 / fax 206.464.3058 www.wac.net / magazine@wac.net 206.464.4631 / fax 206.464.1392 Subscription: $18 / Single copies: $3 Published bimonthly, plus holiday issue.
