Meet at the Lighthouse for this enlightening tour. 10–11:30 am; $8; cancel by July 10 N E W Pioneers Come Alive at Lake View Cemetery Sunday, September 14 Seattle actress Beth Amsbary becomes the persona of Louisa Boren Denny as she narrates a 90-minute walking tour of the pioneer graves of Capitol Hill's Lake View Cemetery. •is educational venture takes you back to the rough-and-tumble era of early Seattle as you visit the lives of early settlers and founders. It's clear Amsbary has come to feel she knows the departed like close friends. She'll share tales of area namesakes such as Doc Maynard, Henry Yesler, the Mercer girls, and David Denny. •e "who's who" of departed Seattle also includes the Phinneys, Meydenbauers, Chittendens, Kinnears, Chief Sealth's daughter Princess Angeline, and even Bruce and Brandon Lee. Join us as Beth evokes Seattle history in a new way. Saturday, September 6 •e Washington State Fair Rodeo is welcoming the top cowboys and cowgirls in the country as they compete in the Justin Boots Playoffs at the Puyallup fairgrounds. •e Northwest's biggest rodeo includes the dangerous and physically demanding sports of bull riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, team roping, and more. You'll see it all from premium Golden Saddle seating in the lower grand- stand. Start with a dinner buffet in the private Fair View Club, where you'll enjoy views of the grandstand and central hub of the fair. We've selected a classic western menu that includes pulled chicken, hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, salads, watermelon, cookies, and soft drinks. A cash bar will also be available. •en, head to your seat for the rodeo and watch the best ath- letes and stock compete for the largest purse in the Northwest. You'll also have access to the Bucking Chute Saloon beer garden at the north end of the arena. After the rodeo's action-packed fun, stick around for a concert by country artist Colt Ford, who will have you dancing in your seat or down in the dirt arena.
