JUNE / JULY 2014 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | 11 Know the dress code By Michelle Van Slack, Director Member Services T he WAC is a bustling multiuse club. Our dress code attempts to reflect the diversity of activities we host. At a minimum, clean and modest attire without holes is expected. But there are location- based specifics to dressing appropriately. Brush up on the basics and you will be dapper clubwide. Main lobby: Business casual is the dress of choice. Athletic attire is permitted when moving through the lobby to access athletic areas. Torchy's & Hagerty's: Business or informal attire is appropriate—even jeans. Active workout clothes are not permitted, however. In both venues as well as the Sports Café, a shower is expected after vigorous exercise. Please refrain from entering when still sweaty. Athletics: Clean workout shirts and shoes are required. Choose accordingly. Only nonmarking soles are permitted on courts. Printing on clothing must be in good taste. After vigorous exercise, members are encouraged to exit using the stairwells and to use the runners' entrance/exit if not showering first. Swimming: Swim trunks for men and bathing suits for women are required. When using the elevator before or after a swim, members must wear bathrobes or full-length warm-up suits to cover their swimwear.
