That is what the holidays mean to me. It hasn't always been this way. For many years, they were about making lists of things I wanted under the Christmas tree or tracking down what I needed to get others. But as my children aged—and as we all became busier— our time together grew less common and more important. We Marilyn Boss, took tropical trips to escape Seattle's weather. We shared new Chairwoman of the Board of Governors memories. And we built tighter bonds. This year I asked my kids what they wanted to do for Christmas. They both said, "Let's go see grandma." I could not have thought of a better present for any of us. Knowing that they would prefer to spend time with their 81-year-old grandma shows me they also appreciate what's truly important. The holiday season is a time to reflect and to appreciate what we value in our lives. It's not about the car we drive or the labels on our clothes, but rather the people in our lives. In the end, we'll each be remembered for how we act as friends or parents or loved ones, not for our work as powerful executives or successful entrepreneurs. I hope you find the time this season to let the people important in your life know how much you care and how much they mean. May your holidays surround you with these people and memories that last a lifetime. Your holiday respite W elcome to December and the final rush into the holiday season. With the relaxed warm glow of Thanksgiving behind us, there is the potential for frenzy ahead. May we offer up the WAC as a way to avoid the anxiety and panic? Start with the fantastic all–WAC party that is Jubilee. You might even win a new Mercedes-Benz! Chuck Nelson, President & Chief How about holiday gift shopping followed by a relaxing Executive Officer massage and a WAC signature cocktail? The offerings of the Club Shop and Spa at the WAC make gift-giving easy. Or what about hosting your family in Torchy's for Christmas dinner? Or maybe you'd rather have Chef Eric and his team prepare your holiday meal to take home (no one will ever know). And how about finishing up 2013 with the full-scale celebration of New Year's Eve at the WAC? Whatever you do, the Clubhouse will be dressed in its holiday finest. And should you want to share your passion for the WAC, our Member Services team can help you get someone started at the Club. Our annual WAC Friends & Family membership promotion is in full swing. From me and the entire WAC family, happy holidays to you all.
