Whether you're a solo traveler, looking for a couples getaway, or want an adventure with friends, we can't recommend a trip to Japan's capital highly enough. At the Tokyo National Museum in the Uedo district, marvel at ancient Japanese art and artifacts. Over in Akhibara, you'll find stores filled with more-recent relics full of nostalgia—vintage video games. For a future-esque experience, check out a teamLabs museum—there are two permanent teamLabs digital art muse- ums in the city as well as various rotat- ing temporary exhibits—where you can walk through experimental installations and become part of the art yourself. Tokyo is a foodie's heaven. From Mi- chelin-starred restaurants with Wagyu sushi to 7-Eleven egg salad sandwiches, there's something for every appetite and budget. e city is also known for its cof- fee scene, where pour-over is treated as an art form. At night, visit a listening bar, where DJs spin jazz records, or sample a saké tasting. ere is no shortage of things to do in the city, but if you do decide to ven- ture farther, bullet trains will get you to Kyoto or Osaka in just a few hours.
