WINTER / SPRING 2026 21 living fit family basketball champs The Washington Athletic Club and the Bellevue Club will co- host the Pacific Coast Athletic Clubs (PCAC) basketball tournament this March 13–14. Teams from five clubs on the West Coast are expected to attend. Games will be played at both clubs, and more details will be announced on the WAC app. Bob & Charlie Farra Bob & Charlie Farra's memories of WAC basketball go way back. When Bob's team played in Cleveland in the 1980s, he took along 12-year-old Charlie. e WAC didn't fare so well on that trip, but Bob and Charlie have fond memories of watching a Guardians baseball game and Cavaliers basketball games as well as visits to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. For Charlie, the courtside intro to WAC hoops was inspirational. Bob's team went on to win a NACAD title in 1989—Brian McManus was on the same team—and Charlie won one with the A Division team in 2012. Charlie insists he's still the only member in WAC basketball history to dunk during a Masters game. "It's competitive out there," he says. "Any accolade you get is well-earned!" Brian & Ian McManus Ian McManus grew up watching his dad, Brian, play on the 8th Floor. He re- members sitting on the track above the court as his dad battled it out against other basketball players. "I shot my first basket here, and I trained with Donald Watts every weekend," Ian says. Ian won his first NACAD championship in 2025 as a member of the A Division team. "Good job, you've just got seven more to go," says Brian playfully. e first of his eight titles came in 1989, and he played for many more years aer that, winning his final NACAD in 2011. "I was always very proud to be wearing 'WAC' across my chest," Brian says. "It makes me so happy to know Ian will make lifelong friendships and be motivated by the competition to stay in great physical condition." P C A C
