Like many of you, I have a full calendar, a demanding professional life, and a tendency to push through discomfort rather than slow down. Late last year, I was sidelined by a virus that kept me away from work and my duties at the WAC for several weeks. It was an unexpected pause, and one that forced me to think again how grateful I am for my health, which I only seem to do when I'm ill. What I didn't fully appreciate until recently is how much the habits we build over time matter when our bodies ask us to recover, not just perform. For me, that habit has been simple consistency. A regular exercise routine at the WAC, nothing superhuman, just showing up and getting it done, has become a necessary part of my daily life. Strength train- ing, cardio, stretching, and movement have given me a baseline of fitness that I now recognize as a form of resilience. When I was finally able to get back to my routine, that foundation made a real difference. I bounced back faster than I expected, not because I did anything special in the moment, but because I had been doing the right things for years beforehand. One of the privileges of our club is that it supports us through every phase of life, not just our best days, but our more challenging ones, as well. e WAC is where many of us come to build strength, maintain balance, and quietly take care of ourselves. I'm deeply grateful for that, and for a community that understands that health is not about perfection but rather about showing up, staying steady, and giving ourselves the space to recover when we need it most.
