12 WAC Magazine | wac.net first take members in motion Members in Motion Bettina Stix Member Bettina Stix recently took over as global director of Amazon's com- munity impact division. She previously led the company's disaster relief, food security, and education teams. "When Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica [in October 2025], we were able to deploy a Prime airplane packed with relief supplies and connectivity kits within hours," Bettina says. "Watching first responders use that infrastructure to coordinate rescue efforts and help communities rebuild reminded me why this work matters." Since 2017, Amazon has respond- ed to more than 200 natural disasters across 34 countries, delivering 26 mil- lion relief items from its 15 disaster re- lief hubs, getting supplies where they're most needed quickly and effectively. e company works closely with frontline partners, including the American Red Cross. Bettina's new role puts her in position to create even larger impact, including with Amazon's food security initiatives. "We're driven by the belief that everyone should have access to food, and Amazon has a unique role to play," she says. Bettina has been with Amazon for 27 years and previously led Amazon website teams in Germany and France. She started at the company when it only sold books. She moved to Seattle in 2004, joined the WAC in 2008, and worked in various Amazon divisions before joining the Prime team and launching Prime Day in 2015. Short- ly aerward, she started to build the company's disaster relief program, its first philanthropic program. Alan Forney WAC member Alan Forney was recently honored in Boston with his induction into the National Rowing Hall of Fame. Forney's rowing career includes a silver medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olym- pics in the men's coxless four, where he competed alongside David Clark, Jonathan Smith, and Philip Stekl. Al's Olympic achievement capped years of dedication to the sport, which also saw him represent the United States in the eights at the 1982 and 1983 World Championships. A graduate of the University of Washington and later Seattle Pacific University, Al transitioned from elite athletics to a career in banking while continuing to give back to the row- ing community. He has served on the board of Washington Rowing Stewards at the University of Washington, the Washington Rowing Foundation, and numerous civic organizations in the Seattle area, reflecting his commitment to leadership on and off the water. He currently sits on the Board of Governors at the WAC and is President & CEO of e Commerce Bank of Washington. Cheyenne Gillooly Member Chey- enne Gillooly was installed as 2026 President of Seattle King County Realtors. Her installation took place as part of the association's annual awards and installation gala, which was held in the WAC's Crystal Ballroom. "I'm honored and energized by the year ahead," Cheyenne said shortly aer her inauguration. "In a time when the world can feel uncertain, I believe our greatest strength is community, and the choice to show up for it." Cheyenne sits on the WAC Board of Governors and the Membership & Marketing Committee. She is an avid supporter of the Club and frequently sponsors new members. "Showing up should be the easiest decision we can make as WAC mem- bers," Cheyenne says. "e Club plays a huge role in my life, from having my daughter at WeeWACs to working out to working remote from the WAC Café. e WAC is literally part of every aspect of my life." Share your successes!
