32 WAC Magazine | wac.net club life life members Fiy years is something to celebrate! Every year, the Washington Athletic Club honors a new class of Life Members—individuals who have reached a half-century of WAC membership. ese longstanding members not only receive the title of Life Member but also a dues waiver for the rest of their lives, along with a gold member- ship card. We caught up with some of the 2024 Life Member class and asked them about their best Club memories through the years. New Life Members share cherished memories I've been blessed with three daughters, a daughter-in-law, and two granddaugh- ters. Some assortment of us has now attended 42 Father Daughter dinners. —John Steel As a longtime resident of Chelan, the Inn at the WAC has been a wonderful home away from home. Its plentiful amenities, excellent location, and wonderful staff greatly enhance our Seattle stays. We always look forward to our visits. —Joe Wesley One of our family's favorite memories was going to the Father Daughter ban- quets, which we attended a number of times in the 1970s and 1980s. We also went to Mothers' Day brunches with the whole family. We reserved a private room and enjoyed the brunch and then maybe a swim in the pool. —Craig Sternberg Living on Whidbey Island has meant the WAC has been our home away from home for 50 years. From the WAC park- ing garage to the friendly greeting at the door, fine food and beverage offerings, and overnight guest rooms, it has been our haven, a place to embrace life in the city. —Bob & Sue Frause Kit's parents gave us a beautiful engage- ment party at the Club. We joined as soon as we moved back to Seattle 50 years ago. Kit was a regular at the gym, and I proudly joined the triathlon training group. We have given beautiful parties and receptions at the Club, hosted business events, and thoroughly enjoyed staying fit. —Sally & Kit Narodick We would stay at the WAC when visiting our daughters, who went to Forest Ridge Academy. The people at the front desk would always let our girls into the room, and they would be there waiting for us. —James Prince We had our wedding reception at the WAC, and the cake was the most fabu- lous thing in the world. We also went to Jubilee during the WTO riots—that was exciting! We also hosted a traditional Greek dinner with dancing for Paul's mother's 100th and 105th birthdays. —Debbie & Paul Doces The most memorable event was celebrating our 50th anniversary in the summer of 2021. We hosted 100 guests in the Crystal Ballroom. The event took place 50 years to the day after our wed- ding. The party even started at the exact time our wedding ceremony began in Duluth, Minnesota. —Jeff Atkin From Top: Debbie and Paul Doces at their wedding reception; Jeff Atkin and wife Brenda with family; Craig Stern- berg (left) and daughters; Bob and Sue Frause.
