Opening remarks from the Chairman and President & CEO SPRING / SUMMER 2024 5 Several years ago, our law firm's executive committee convened in Seattle. Leading up to the event, I reached out to the WAC team for help planning hotel rooms, meeting spaces, and group dinners. e experience exceeded all my expectations, and the 14 attendees from various corners of the country couldn't stop raving about the Club's amenities and exceptional staff. Following that remarkable experience, we opened a corporate account with the Inn at the WAC. Soon, travelers from our other offices made the Inn their preferred lodging when visiting Seattle. Word about the WAC's outstanding service and indulgent amenities—including its fitness areas and spa—spread swily within the firm. Last March, at a retreat in Orlando, I was repeatedly greeted with inquiries about the WAC. Colleagues eagerly expressed their anticipation of staying with us again. I consider myself fortunate to have discovered the WAC, and it brings me immense joy to share the Club and the incredible experiences it provides with others. We are blessed to have our wonderful Clubhouse, a Seattle City Landmark also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has served this community for nearly ten decades, evolving along the way. Its elegant art deco exterior complements 21 floors inside full of offerings and amenities that change over time to enrich the lives of the tens of thousands of members who have supported it since 1930. As maintenance and improvement projects continue to become more and more expensive, it remains imperative that we continue to care for the Clubhouse and present great opportunities for the membership. As such, the Board of Governors has approved a capital dues line to augment our operational revenues and ability to fund the needs of the building and the membership. Our generation can ensure that our Club's upcoming centennial, just a few years away, will present a shining facility the membership and the city can be proud of.
