APRIL / MAY / JUNE 2021 23 no better time to get back to the Club. Nowadays, a post-workout shower might include a walk upstairs to the Inn at the WAC, where rooms are reserved for just that purpose. When you sit down for weekend brunch at Torchy's, fellow diners may feel a little farther away, but the food is still excellent. And happy hour at Hagerty's is still happy, even if it is just on weekdays. As we continue to navigate this "new normal," members are finding Clubhouse procedures and practices reassuring. "I was excited to get back to the Club and step into some routine again," mem- ber Lisa Noji says. "Whether it's a work- out, taking a class, or playing pickleball, I feel comfortable with the WAC's safety measures. e Club has really helped bring some normalcy back to our lives." club life family matters Family Matters Danielle Johnson Anthony Johnson Ethan, age 5, and Spencer, age 3 Ethan and Spencer Johnson both attended the full-time program at WeeWACs before the COVID-19 pandemic. e WAC childcare program was a perfect fit for them and their parents, who both work across the street during non-pandemic times. "WeeWACs was our primary reason for joining the Club," Danielle Johnson says. But then the family started attending social events, and Danielle and Anthony began working out at the Club. "We have benefited more than we ever expected," Danielle says. "It has turned out to be a great decision." e icing on the cake was Ethan's third birthday party, held in the 8th Floor Card Room and gym. "e WAC staff was so helpful leading up to the event," Danielle says. "And they made an amazing cake!" e best part? "e WAC staff made sure I spent time with my son and family and didn't worry about any of the party details." Lindsay Lundberg Brannen Lundberg Reagan, age 4, and Chase, age 2 Lindsay and Brannen Lundberg joined the WAC in 2012 while living downtown and quickly took to morning workouts and Hagerty's happy hours. "One trip was all it took to decide that the WAC was the place for us," Lindsay recalls. When they moved out of the city aer Reagan was born, their member- ship changed with them. Where they formerly escaped the urban din, they now find a crucial connection with the city. "ere is no better satellite office than the WAC," Brannen says. "And friends and family never turn down an invitation to be a guest at a WAC event!" Brannen and Lindsay attended virtual WAC events during the pandemic, finding much-needed social release. Both also volunteer on Club leadership committees, and Lindsay serves on the Board of Governors. Reagan and Chase, meanwhile, already look forward to WAC family events, including the Halloween Spectacular, Santa photos, and story times. "e WAC has been there for our kids from the begin- ning," Lindsay says. "It's something they'll enjoy through their youth and adolescence." What's more, Lindsay's parents joined a few years ago, making the Club an even bigger family affair. C O U R T E S Y P H O T O ( L ) , S H A U N A H U R N P H O T O G R A P H Y ( R )
