48 WAC Magazine | wac.net Amanda and Conner Packard knew they wanted a formal wedding ceremony at St. James Cathedral on First Hill. Finding a venue for their reception proved a little more difficult. "We wanted a place that was timeless and classic and would match our traditional ceremony venue," Amanda recalls. "We also wanted a venue that could comfortably hold 180 guests." The couple looked at options around the city, but none fit their requirements. "We would either have to downsize the guest list or go with a venue coordinator we didn't have a great connection with," Amanda says. During their search, Conner mentioned to a co-worker that they were still seeking a venue. That colleague turned out to be longtime WAC member Dail Bodziony. Dail connected the dots, and Amanda and Conner were soon being introduced to WAC Senior Catering Sales Manager Katie Takahashi. "We both loved the Crystal Ballroom, but it was really Katie who sold us on the WAC," Amanda says. "She understood our vision for an elegant Seattle wedding and was so accommodating. And the wedding packages offered were an unbelievable value compared to similar venues." Amanda, from Las Vegas, and Conner, from Mercer Island, wed this past September. After the ceremony, the party shifted seven blocks from St. James to Sixth and Union. "The WAC was the perfect setting for what we wanted our wedding to look and feel like," Conner says. The room was decorated in white and gold, with impressive candelabras and white bouquets on the tables. Amanda wore an embroidered gown with a long train, and a live band entertained the guests. Says Amanda: "We couldn't have been happier with the WAC." Complimentary non-overnight parking is available after 5 pm for all wedding guests in the WAC Garage, based on availability. Wedding parties often enjoy the services of the WAC spa and barbershop, perfect before and after the big day. Wedding couples enjoy a complimentary night in a luxury Inn at the WAC room.
